Last week I took a trip to the beauty supply store with the intention of doing something different with my hair. I planned to just try some new products or buy some temporary hair dye for a summer color change for the summer, but somehow I walked out with 3 packs of Marley hair with the idea of doing my own Marley Twists.
I purchased the Urban Beauti Beauty Collection brand ($3.95/pack) because it was the only option in the store that actually had the word "Marley" on the package. Each pack was separated into 20 pieces of "hair" that were about the size of a small dreadlock (similar to the pic above but more stretched and wavy) and I used 2 pieces for each twist.
I started by applying ORS Olive Oil Smooth-n-Hold Pudding and Eco Styler Olive Oil Styling Gel to my hair. Then I twisted my hair following a Havana Twist tutorial on the Finger Comber website. I got the hang of it on the first try so the process went pretty smoothly and I was able to finish my whole head in almost 2.5 hours. At the end I used all three packs with only 2 pieces left over.
I am loving the results and having so much fun styling the twists into big buns and updos. The Marley hair is a bit dry in texture so I'm not sure how long I will keep the twists in--I wouldn't want to damage my natural hair! So far I've been spritzing my hair daily with Taliah Waajid Protective Mist Bodifier spray so hopefully my natural hair will remain moisturized.
How are you wearing your hair this summer? Have you tried, or thought about trying Marley Twists?
