Kinky Curly Sew-in: All About My Hair

Last week, I got a new sew-in.  For this install, I tried out the Kinky Curly hair from All About My Hair

picture from the website

I was a little nervous about how it would blend, but the one good thing about the All About My Hair website is that there is a customer gallery, so there were a ton of pictures of different people rocking the hair at different lengths.  I was going for a natural look, so I ordered a 4 oz bundle of hair in 10" length and a 4 oz bundle in 12" length.   Surprisingly, I was able to achieve exactly the look that I was going for, and the hair blends perfectly!

It's still early, but so far I'm in love with this hair! It is the perfect length, it feels so soft and responds well to the products I use on my own hair, and I only need to use a little water and gel on my leave-out hair to blend. I did read that that this hair is a little difficult to manage--which can be expected given that it is curly hair--but it feels as if it is actually easier to manage than my natural hair  because it doesn't get as dry as my hair, and I don't have to be as gentle with it as I am when styling my natural hair. I'll post updates in a few weeks!

House of Dereon?...Is that you?

Once upon a time my wardrobe was full of "urban wear" brands like Baby Phat, Rocawear, and Apple Bottom (jeans, boots with the furrr...).  Luckily this was short-lived and my taste matured before House of Dereon (HOD) really hit the scene. I scoffed at the cheap looking material, shook my head at the too-large logo plastered over most of the items, and needless to say I was never a fan of the line (and truth be told, I didn't like any of the clothes Beyonce wore during her Destiny's Child days). But this HOD right here? Not the same line I remember!

The House of Dereon website just released pics of the Fall 2012 Lookbook and ad campaign featuring Queen B herself.  The looks are fun, sexy, and wearable. I would wear almost every piece!

What do you think of the Fall 2012 looks? Is this what you would expect from House of Dereon?

Change Clothes...and Go!

Happy Monday! Is it just me, or did the past weekend go by way too fast?!?  Saturday night, I tore myself away from the television watching the Olympics so I could go out on the town with my fiance and some friends. We were planning to go to a fairly upscale night club so I got dolled up and put on my little black dress (LBD):

Dress: JC Penney / Belt: Old / Earrings: Body Shop / Shoes: Nine West / Clutch: Steve Madden

Somewhere between a change of plans and my indecisive nature, I realized I wasn't feeling my outfit (well, I really wasn't in the mood to wear a dress) and made a wardrobe change! This is the outfit that actually made it to the club:

Top: Charlotte Russe / Jeans: Kohl's / Clutch: Belk's (old) / Earrings: Body Shop / Shoes: Nine West

I Love Dresses...

...especially when they are as gorgeous and comfy as this one! I am in love with this print. And the asymmetric hemline.
