Inspired: Shawna Strayhorn

Today's post is inspired by an outfit I found on the LoveBrownSugar blog. I saw a feature on Shawna Strayhorn, Director of Marketing and Partnerships for Refinery29 (if you love fashion, you have to check out the Refinery29 site) and thought this was a super cute outfit that I could recreate.

Here is the inspiration photo and my take on it:

Do It Like Beyonce: Florals

The every stylish (and super talented) Beyonce was captured rocking a pair of Stella McCartney Hawaiian print pants paired with a hot pair of bright yellow pumps. These pants are right on trend with floral print fashion that is hot right now just in time for Spring.  Take a look a these floral pieces to help you craft a  Beyonce-inspired look:

La La Anthony For Latina Mag: Giving Me Life!

Images from Latina.com

How amazing does La La look on this cover! I love everything about these looks...I love the combination of yellow and lavender, the chunky pink statement necklace, and the gorgeous red dress!

These outfits work because of the well-fitting garments, fun use of color, and stand-out accessories to complement the looks.  Inspired by  La La's fierce accessories, I found a few jewelry options to take any outfit to the next level.

Shopping Haul: Convertible Items

A few weeks ago, I did a little shopping and picked up a few items on clearance at Belk's. To make sure I wasn't wasting my money on items I would never wear, I tried to think of at least 2 ways to wear each item, or come up with at least 2 items in my closet that would look good with each item.

I found this piece  that can be worn as a dress for a night out, or paired with leggings and rocked as a tunic:

I tried on this shirt with and without a belt and it looked good both ways.  I could pair it with a pencil skirt I already own for work, or with nice denim and heels on date night with my fiance.

I love this emerald green pleated skirt.  I can pull the waistband up to wear as a dress, pull it down to wear it as a maxi skirt, and can adjust it somewhere in between to make it a hi-lo or a midi skirt.

How do you decide which items to add to your wardrobe? Do you have unworn items in your closet collecting dust? Let me know in the comments :)
