Shopping has always been one of my favorite pastimes When I'm bored, you can usually find me grazing the aisles of Target or strolling the mall. But for the last couple of weeks, I haven't had the desire to do much shopping. I haven't set foot in the mall yet this year, and I've deleted a ton of those sale emails from retailers. I guess it's partly because I am pretty content with the current state of my closet. There are some items I want (like more skirts), but overall I have nice selection of pieces that I love. This year I've also decided that I'm going to take a different approach to shopping. Instead of just buying what's on sale, or buying multiples of the same items, I'm going to focus on classic staples and a few stand out, "gotta have it" items. I already have my eye on quite a few pieces from the Duro Olowu for JCPenney line and the Prabal Gurung for Target collaboration that fit into the latter category! In addition, I have recently ordered a few items from Asos that fit the bill.
Blazer and Cuffed Tuxedo Pant Celebrities like Angela Simmons, Janelle Monáe, Rihanna and Beyonce have shown how menswear inspired suits can be both chic and sexy. This cream option (also available in black) would look amazing as separates (I especially love how the cuffed pants allow you to show off your shoe game!), but the jacket and pants combine to create a classy look.
Peplum animal print blazer What's not to love about this blazer! The peplum hem is so flirty and feminine while the animal print is fun and edgy. This piece can easily be taken from work to play and day to night.
I'll be sure to share more of my favorite purchases! Are you shopping with purpose this year? Tell me about it!
